A found poem from several news articles about the most recent IPCC report which states we have about 32 months to get our shit together and drastically reduce emissions.
32 months
now or never
the world can still hope
dash a final warning
give the world a massive effort
the chances of catastrophic consequences will be comprehensive
will draw on the work of thousands
the last warning is “almost inevitable”
the critical century campaigns could not be a substitute
some were lying
some governments, some leaders, saying, doing, lying
the results will be catastrophic
energy prices and the war are part of governments falling short
our battle, the urgent global action, must be:
growing
preserving
planting
including
the time of reckoning is now: we need to change
poor countries, the least developed countries, said we cannot afford to be more accelerated
governments questioned human changes, the catastrophic impacts
yes, colonialism caused climate change, a historical
and ongoing driver of destroying our planet, its gifts, justice
there’s plenty of time if leaders just listen
many communities are tycoons who chase profit, or the U.S.
our country was reinforced by exploiting
the planet carries trauma
this genocide wounds a world
if we want conscious people, change colonialism
there’s great power on the front lines of disaster
clarity will finally build a better world
the world is on track for ensuing chaos
the planet has havoc
one way to look at rich nations is to abandon politics
in most blunt terms, this is the most important distinction
when the future includes controversial costs, governments will challenge the world
there are other pollutants besides the powerful, like:
moving faster and faster
war
demanding more
the report says first, rise
then, reconcile illusions
ask the wrong questions
start asking to take up faith
wake up, everyone
the rich aren’t doing it
they are talking about building the dead
we need an uprising
read between the lines
